Carbon Offsets Expert 

Large Financial Institutions and their clients have publicly committed to SBTi and/or stringent carbon footprint reduction trajectories for their client portfolios by 2030 (own footprint) or 2050 (client portfolio). These objectives have dramatically increased the need for offsets as clients need to demonstrate carbon neutrality actions and results (OPEX-linked), whilst working on their core business transformation (CAPEX-linked).

The Global Voluntary Carbon Offsets Market size was valued at USD2bn in 2021 (four times its value in 2020) and expected to reach USD40bn by 2030 (BCG and Shell co-authored report, 19/01/2023), thus creating a need for software/platform providers to intermediate & monitor these transactions.  

The ability to transact offsets is also expected to be a core component of the offering and functionalities of end-to-end carbon management platforms (such as Envision Ark’s long-term vision and ambition).
 

Responsibilities: 

• Track and study the development of Carbon Offsets standards, methodology, technology, marketplace players, and derive the risks and opportunities for ED (including the long term Go-to-market options) 
• Support the construction and development of SAAS software functionalities. 
• Support the pre-sale activities of the Green Business BU, as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) engaging peers at the targeted FIs/clients.   

Qualifications & Experience: 

• Bachelor Degree in Industrial Ecology, nature-based sciences, environmental & sustainability studies or equivalent 
• Familiar with Carbon Markets mechanisms (Compliance & Voluntary), global standardization initiatives (e.g. United Nations-led), tools, market dynamics (supply/demand, proven and emerging technologies, marketplaces); Good ability in Macro & Micro synthesis, analysis, and report writing. 
• 3+ years’ experience with Carbon Markets Regulatory or Trading industry  
• Proven track record in engaging C-suite at Financial Institutions. 
• Have good communication skills, team awareness, and organizational coordination skills
