Leading Investors Supporting Transition to Net Zero
[Reuters] Singapore – 7 June 2022: Fast on the heels of United Nation’s World Environment Day, Envision Digital, the leading provider of Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things software driving the transition to Net Zero, today announced it has closed its series A investment round of $210 million, led by Sequoia China with participation from GIC.
EnOS™, Envision Digital’s proprietary AIoT operating system, helps organizations manage the production of renewable energy and orchestrate efficient consumption across their operations to reduce overall carbon footprint and achieve net zero carbon emissions. EnOS™ connects and manages more than 200 million smart devices and 400 gigawatts of energy assets globally.
The company’s growing ecosystem of more than 500 customers and partners spans retail, industrial, government, energy and transportation industries, and includes Accenture, Bureau Veritas, Keppel Corporation, Microsoft, PTT, and PSA international, amongst others.
This new investment will accelerate the transition to net zero through global expansion of the company’s operations, additional research and development, and exploration of new strategic partnerships.
Neil Shen, Founding and Managing Partner of Sequoia China, said: “Climate change and the transition to carbon neutrality is one of the greatest challenges humankind has faced. Envision Digital is a visionary innovator in this field and has helped to reduce carbon emissions across multiple industries, including retail, finance, transportation and manufacturing. This investment continues to put Sequoia China at the forefront of supporting the race to net zero carbon emissions globally.”
Choo Yong Cheen, Chief Investment Officer of Private Equity at GIC, said: “We are confident of the long-term growth potential of Envision Digital as it is a first-mover in offering a full-suite, flexible technological solution that leverages its strong know-how in renewables and carbon management. Such investments are a testament to GIC’s commitment to invest in the transition to a net zero economy, which can only be achieved when significant technological advancements can be scaled up and adopted widely.”
Lei Zhang, CEO of Envision Digital said: “Sequoia China and GIC’s long-term priorities are well aligned with ours – in the strong belief that a purpose-built software platform for transitioning to net zero will play a critical role for customers and partners to deliver on their net zero commitments. These partnerships are timely as we enter our next phase of growth, working with our customers and partners to accelerate the journey to net zero.”
This announcement comes after the confirmation of new net zero tech partnerships earlier in 2022. In March, Envision Digital announced a new partnership with global solar developer Lightsource bp, to accelerate the growth and optimisation of solar power. This followed on from a partnership announced in January with Mott MacDonald to help cities, industrial clusters, transport operators and other customers achieve their net zero goals faster and more effectively.
